Why Breckenridge?
A Guide to our Town
It's the friendly, real-town atmosphere that truly sets Breckenridge apart from other resorts. Unlike many ski resorts that have to fabricate their character brick by brick, Breckenridge is the oldest town in Summit County and still sports a good deal of its original Victorian architecture. Designated as a National Historic District, and the largest Historic District in Colorado, the former mining boom town has a colorful local culture that keeps visitors entertained year-round. Breckenridge Ski Resort is an ideal place for both green and advanced skiers alike, with four distinct peaks offering over 2,400 acres of varied terriain for any level skier or rider.

Getting Around Town
Map and Video Guides
Breckenridge has a relatively small town center, making it very easy to navigate, with little need for a car. The majority of activity centers around the central four blocks of Main Street, South Park Avenue and Ridge Street. The base of the ski resort at Peak 9 extends into town and is walking distance from the shopping and dining district. Unlike some other resorts, this close connection between the town and the mountain is a unique and favorable characteristic of Breckenride. A free town trolley and shuttle service makes frequent stops throughout the main town center and extends up to Peak 8.
